Internet via computer

Depending on possibilities offered by the end equipment and availability of data transmission technologies in LMT GSM/UMTS network it is possible to use HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE or GPRS data transmission services.

1. Insert a SIM card in the modem.
2. Connect the modem to the computer. Operating system will automatically determine the new hardware and start installation of the software. If the installation program does not respond, you shall activate in the LMT Internet program file folder AutoRun.exe file:
   My Computer -> LMT Internet -> Explore vai Open -> AutoRun.exe
   • If you use the O‎Karte modem, program settings will be performed automatically.
   • If you use other modem or data card, you shall create a new profile and indicate:
     • access point (APN): internet.lmt.lv
     • access number: *99#
3. # Enter PIN 1 code and make the first connection to the Internet.

• Initially the tariff plan DIENA is applied as default, which is convenient if you use don’t use Internet regularly but use it for a long time when you do.
• If you are a passionate Internet user, it is more advantageous for you to pay for the time spent on the Internet - the tariff plan LAIKS is for you!
• If you only want to read news or e-mails, or you are within weak coverage area, it would definitely be more advantageous to select the payment for megabytes - the tariff plan MEGABAITS is for you!

Initially the plan DIENA is activated for each card, however, you may change it anytime (as often as you need!), by sending a short message indicating a desired tariff plan abbreviation to service system number 29202010.

Tariff plan is changed after you have received the confirmation message.

If you are not sure and would like to clarify which tariff plan you are using, send IP to service system number 29202010.

• By using O‎Karte recharge voucher or cheque:
  • by a short message.
    Send a message to service system number 29202010, indicating the recharge voucher number and code, by separating them with # or a space.
  • From O‎Karte web page www.okarte.lv
• Without using the recharge voucher:
  • from Swedbank Mobile bank by a SMS;
  • from Swedbank ib.swedbank.lv and SEB bank ibanka.lv;
  • from Swedbank and SEB bank cash machines;

• Please remember the PIN 1 original code! You will need it in the future.
• With O‎Karte mobile internet card you may use your handset as a modem - connect it to the computer, using the data cable, infrared port, Bluetooth or PCMCIA interface.
• Credit validity period and usage period are not summed up.
• Prepayment amount shall be used within the credit validity period. If the prepayment amount is spent earlier and is not renewed, until the end of the usage period you will receive only short messages. The period is activated again after recharging of the account.
• If the O‎Karte mobile internet card account is not recharged by the end of the usage period of the card, the number may be restored free of charge within 6 months. After that period the card is deactivated and the account balance is no more available.
• Change of the tariff plan does not influence the credit validity period and usage period of the card.
• O‎Karte mobile internet card operates only within the LMT network coverage area in the territory of Latvia, using the data transmission technologies HSDPA/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS.
• In order to provide all the interested persons with the possibility to receive the service and eliminate the network overload, when the users of the tariff plan TIME reach the 3GB limit within a period of 30 days, the maximum data transmission rate until the end of this period is limited.

  In this case we recommend considering to change to the tariff plan MEGABAITU – and you will be able to continue using the Internet without the speed limit.

  When the users of the tariff plan DIENA reach the limit of 200MB within a 24-hour period, the maximum data transmission rate until the end of this period is limited.

  User of the tariff plan DIENA may cancel speed limit within a 24-hour period by sending a command AP to service system number 29202010. Fee for the service is LVL 1 and it enables to additionally transmit data of 1GB without speed limit. Additional data amount purchased shall be used by the end of the current 24-hour period.

• If you use any of GPRS data transmission forms, it is important that your computer has an antivirus protections program and latest updates of the program have been installed. However, remember that none of antivirus programs guarantees 100% safety for your computer.
  Symptoms that may evidence of a computer virus are as follows: GPRS data transmission session terminates without any apparent reason, it is impossible to make a GPRS data transmission connection, it is not possible to open definite web pages in the computer, computer starts to operate slower etc.

• LMT data transmission services are developed so that to ensure as high data transmission rate as possible. Their main advantage is mobility and availability at any place having LMT coverage. No constant use of one definite technology is guaranteed, when using data transmission service. Data transmission user or the end equipment itself (handset, data modem etc.) depending on a network coverage available and a signal intensity may change both the data transmission technology to be used - HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE or GRPS and the network, thus impacting the data transmission rate. Data transmission rate may be impacted also by other factors non-dependant on LMT.
• LMT data transmission services are provided for the surfing in the news portals, search of information, e-mail reading and sending etc. However, several data transmission users use file exchange programs, when downloading or uploading big files (music, video etc.). Such file exchange requires huge network capacity - in case of network overload the data transmission rate reduces and unfortunately other users may not fully use the data transmission services.
• When downloading and uploading data, a definite data transmission amount is used for exchange of technical information between end equipments. Thus, when sending or receiving files of certain size, data amount actually transmitted may be higher. Depending on the possibilities offered by the software and the end equipment, as well as settings the data transmission services may be used also automatically (downloading of program updates, regular e-mail browsing etc.). Software and end equipment - mobile handset, data card, computer etc. - may not ensure a complete accounting of used data transmission. It may happen not only by reason of the technical possibilities of the software and the end equipment, but also depends on the way, how you use them. E.g., if the data card is used in several computers, the data amount used is not summed up; end equipment and software data counters may start counting each time anew; electronic communications services may be used also without activating the service accounting. Thus, in order to ensure a precise accounting of the data services used, the calculation is made only after the registered data of the LMT technical equipment and systems.
• Data transmission services are provided using the data package commutation (GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA). Package commutation data transmission technology does not provide for a data transmission in real time with a definite rate, and the users dynamically divide among themselves the data transmission resources available in the network.
• Using data transmission, an automated data downloading after creation of the session is possible. It may significantly influence the fee for data amount used. This data flow depends on configuration of the computer software and operating system. Automated data downloading is possible, if, e.g., Windows, Skype, anti-virus programs etc. are installed on the computer.
